Job Summary
The Pathologists' Assistant works closely with the Department of Pathology to perform a variety of laboratory procedures related to collection, transporting and processing of human biospecimens for research including but not limited to tissue, blood and urine. Tissue collection often requires dissection of surgical specimens according to strict protocols that require highly detailed annotation to ensure that research sampling does not negatively impact clinical evaluation. The Pathologists' Assistant is responsible for entering collection, processing and distribution annotations in the BSPL electronic database.
We welcome and encourage applications from people with lived and/or professional experience in communities that have been excluded from research, have been historically underrepresented in staff and leadership roles, and whose professional interests center equity and justice. Building and training a workforce that is diverse, inclusive, and equitable is an important part of our mission and critical to our success. These values are central to our ability to conduct high impact research and train future generations of staff, scientists, and clinicians.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
