About the Job:

The position of Warehouse Supervisor will have the primary responsibility of safely managing warehouse and office operations to ensure customer needs and company productivity levels are met through effective leadership of delegated customer service and warehouse personnel. Ensuring that employees are fully trained and meet standards in all functions of warehouse operations, safety, and material handling.


In This Role, You Will:

  • Ensure Odyssey's established employe safety requirements are met in office and warehouse.
    • Confirm adherence to all Federal, State, local, and OSHA regulations, including regulations for personal protective equipment.
    • Track, record, and monitor maintenance and inspections of operating equipment to ensure safety and compliance.
    • Document training programs attended by employees, as well as certifications received.
    • Follow company safety guidelines and procedures, including for the safe loading and unloading material.
    • Periodically audit warehouse procedures and make necessary changes to guarantee work instructions comply with safety standards.
  • Ensure work environment is clean.
  • Lead monthly safety meetings and trainings.
  • Oversee daily warehouse operations.
    • Establish and adjust work procedures to meet customer demands, production schedules, workflow, vacations, etc.
    • Inspect material and note exceptions or damages for inbound and outbound shipments.
    • Supervise and assist in daily warehouse operations including crane and forklift operation, product inspection, shipping, receiving, and storage. Ensure inventory transactions are accurately completed through scanning procedures.
      • Organize material and manage inventory accuracy within the warehouse.
  • Evaluate and recommend processes and procedures to ensure quality of service.
  • Ensure inventory and material is stored safely and blocked properly.
  • Complete daily paperwork and record data.
  • Lead by example in all areas of warehouse operations.
    • Routinely follow safety and warehouse policies and manage employees to do same.
    • Coach employees if policies are not followed or unsafe behaviors occur.
    • Oversee operations so that employee actions do not cause damage to materials.
    • Arrive to work 15 minutes prior to shift start and leave 15 minutes after shift ends to perform walk-throughs and conduct briefings with cross-over shift leads.
  • Maintain responsibility for warehouse employee management and training.
    • Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations in accordance with company policy.
    • Track skill progression so there is an understanding of when an employee has reached full training in warehouse operations, pin-setting, safety, etc.
    • Document employee training levels/progression, performance, and cross training, and provide a biweekly update to superintendent, at minimum.
    • Document and communication to management all incident, accidents, claims, employee disciplinary and performance issues in accordance to regulations and company policy.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Warehouse Superintendent, Shift Leads and Company Drivers
    • Successfully transfer information from Warehouse Superintendent to Shift Leads and warehouse employees when investigating material damage, incidents, and injuries.
    • Produce comprehensive end-of-shift reports that include shift details and unique situations. Email reports to Shift Leads and copy Director of Warehouse Operations.
    • Follow-through on instructions given by Warehouse Superintendent.
      • Communicate incident specifics to Warehouse Superintendent for quick resolution.
      • Ensure communication with Shift Leads occurs and operational loopholes are closed for each shift.
      • Confirm that drivers are treated as part of the team, including routine touch points and providing explanations of warehouse structure/customer needs. Talk with drivers routinely to ensure questions are answered and stress points are diminished. Proactively communicate anticipated problems to Superintendent
  • Participate in meetings, and on committees as instructed or needed.
  • Participate in cross training, development programs and obtain any certifications as requested.
  • Act as back-up for Superintendent during vacation, sickness, or as requested.
  • Participate in company training programs, safety events, company functions and meetings when requested.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a similar role and environment is required.
  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience with forklifts, over-head cranes, metal cutting devices, and hand held RFID scanners is required.
  • Previous experience with AS400 systems and OSHA regulations is preferred.
  • Microsoft Office literate with ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute.

Location:

This is an in-office role based in Vernon, CA.

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, Odyssey provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location, or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.


The base pay range for this position is: $24 to $26 per hour.
