Job Description

Role Summary: Economically and efficiently manage and maintain the cold storage facility and all equipment, including HVAC & refrigeration systems, to the highest safety and operational standards.

Requirements:

  • Train and mentor team members as applicable
  • Ensure that all refrigeration equipment, material handling equipment, building structure, security/fire alarms, and fire suppression systems are operating in a safe and efficient manner
  • Effectively manage scheduled preventive maintenance program to take corrective actions and avoid down time
  • Ensure tasks and documentation are completed neatly, thoroughly, accurately and timely
  • Support achievement of company business plans, strategies and objectives by coordinating the use of shared resources with others departments and locations
  • Encourage "win/win" outcomes, leading by example to show cooperativeness, flexibility, and willingness to change
  • Promote exceptional (WOW) Customer Service by creating an environment that promotes building and maintaining effective communication with vendors, and internal and external customers
  • Manage work order system for general repairs and maintenance on building and grounds
  • Participate in planning policies, procedures, goals and objectives regarding the physical plant
  • Manage and schedule outside maintenance vendors through RFP (Request for Proposal) for such work and effectively coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and government agencies in order to maintain the safety of the team members within the facility
  • Participate in budgetary responsibilities to control facility maintenance expenses and offer input in capital budget recommendations with the General Manager, Corporate Engineer, and Regional Engineer
  • Encourage a safe work environment where team members feel a personal sense of responsibility for themselves and others
  • Monitor and manage the shop's safety and sanitation levels
  • Promote the following of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards in Facility Maintenance Manager (WHM160) (McDonough) April 2019 Key Responsibilities continued the facility, and maintain a neat and clean work environment, free of hazards
  • Actively participate in investigating accidents and near misses in a timely and efficient manner
  • Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and training of maintenance and refrigeration team members to work in a safe manner in accordance with regulatory agencies and company standards
  • Monitor and maintain departmental payroll to include checking computerized time/attendance on a daily basis for proper time clock punches in the system, coordinating PTO requests for staffing purposes and turning in paperwork timely to HR for processing in the correct pay period
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • Education - High school diploma or GED. College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred
  • Experience in HVAC/refrigeration required
  • Experience with lift truck maintenance or similar equipment required
  • Experience with 3 phase electrical required
  • Experience reading and interpreting PI & D drawings (process, instrumentation, and diagrams), piping schematics and single line electrical drawings

  • Ability to understand and comply with EPA and OSHA policies, procedures, programs and safety management
  • Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources
  • Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback, coaching, and counseling
  • Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to read and write in English with corrected or uncorrected vision
  • Able to understand and speak English
  • Ability to apply strong math skills that result in identification of opportunities and justify action plan recommendations
  • Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to utilize equipment for the job safely and accurately (such as computer, copiers, scanners, printers, radio, forklift, reach truck, etc.)

Physical Demands/Equipment:

  • Independently lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able to sit, stand, walk bend, squat on a frequent to continual basis in addition to climbing stairs and ladders in a refrigerated warehouse environment
  • Able to step up onto and down from equipment as required by task (such as forklift, reach truck, etc.)
  • Ability to reach above shoulder level
  • Able to adjust to fluctuating temperatures and withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in a noisy warehouse environment
  • Ability to work at elevated heights while wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as fall protection harnesses, steel-toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing, etc)
  • Ability to handle and physically be near products which may contain food allergens (such as fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc.)
  • Ability to travel - minimal
