BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to keep the Stockton Corps offices and property clean and orderly. It also involves daily food donation pickups and maintaining good working relationships with public and private social services agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work within the office team environment to achieve the overall local goals of The Salvation Army.

Daily-

  1. Serve clients daily to meet their needs within our ability.
  2. Interview clients applying for emergency assistance to be determine eligibility. If we are not able to help with the service requested, provide referral information of forms for other non-profits.
  3. Must answer the phone as much as possible, with respect to the clients/ donor, always representing the organization and our mission well.
  4. Empty trash and garbage containers
  5. Help with reach programs as needed.
  6. Maintain a good working relationship with public and private social service agencies.

Pantry-

  1. Must be available to assist in any way with the moving, unloading, and storage of all donated food items from the truck runs or people's generosity.
  2. Organize, clean, and maintain pantry shelves staffed and neatly, always ensuring that safety policy is followed.
  3. Moving furniture, supplies and equipment as required.
  4. prep the food for distribution to clients. distribute the food to the clients according to our schedule set by the Commanding Officer's.

Other responsibilities-

  1. Seasonal Duties: at Christmas, he/she will be expected to be involved with kettle stand assembly, food barrel placement and pickups around the community, and other duties as assigned by the Corp Officer(s).
  2. Assist the Office Manager with Volunteers as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  1. High School Diploma or GED or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  3. Must have the ability to work with people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  4. Ability to participate in appropriate training in hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal; follow designated policy and procedures for Hazmat identification, storage, and disposal; maintain standards related to environmental compliance and personal health and safety as required.
  5. Ability to speak and write the English language.
  6. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  7. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes.
    • Ability to regularly lift up and/or move up to 30 lbs.
    • This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to remain at a desk for periods of up to two hours with minimal interruption. The ability to operate a keyboard is essential. Ability to operate under stressful working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities is required. The employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
    • The incumbent must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation to perform this job successfully.
