Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Manufacturing Engineer.

Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. designs and manufactures the most technologically advanced Infrared (IR) and Electro-Optical (E-O) test instrumentation. $90,000/yr. - $140,000/yr. DOE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures assemblies can be manufactured with consistent standards throughout the factory
  • Anticipate, plan for production problems, and resolve them with minimal delay and minimal direction
  • Document work order travelers for optimal production process flow
  • Provide inputs to engineering team during product design
  • Provide directions for production team
  • Ability to identify and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Plan and specify new equipment and fixtures for manufacturing
  • Collaborate with engineers, assemblers, and suppliers
  • Must take ownership of assigned projects and drive all aspects to on-time completion
  • Other tasks as assigned

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in engineering (manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or related role
  • Experience working in ISO 9001 or similar quality management system
  • Familiarity with DFx, PFMEA, and DFMEA techniques
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience in SolidWorks
  • Self-starter, who strives to continuously improve processes
  • Work independently or part of a team
  • Strong commitment to quality
  • Work well under pressure
  • Effective communicator, oral and written
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Work on multiple projects concurrently
