POSITION PURPOSE:

Welder needed to help support infrastructure support for the Navy Marine Mammal Program. Their job task consists of duties where they will need to repair, fabricate metal, vehicles, and structures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project
  • Sourcing the materials to be used in the project.
  • Measuring and cutting materials to specifications
  • Welding materials using the correct materials to join the metals together.
  • Checking finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints.
  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on laborer/construction build jobs such as floating walkways, shacks, sheds, and floating platforms.
  • Miscellaneous floating infrastructure repairs (i.e., Brackets, t-hinges, roller brackets for pilings)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Highschool diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 Years relevant experience required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • * Must be Flexible in switching Job duties from welding to enclosure repairs.
  • * Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
  • * Must be able to receive plan of day from PM.
  • * Keep weld shop clean and clear of welding debris.
  • Familiar with welding misc. types of material. (i.e., aluminum, stainless steel, Hot/Cold Roll)
  • Knowledgeable with using different types of welding equipment (stationary and portable).
  • Understand how to use arc welding equipment to bond metals efficiently and safely.
  • Able to follow blueprints and work alone without supervision.
  • Must know and understand OSHA regulations for operating and maintaining single weld shop.
  • Must know how to work with TIG welding, stick welding, and MIG welding safely and properly.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to receive their security clearance and pass a DOD background check (history and finances).
  • Ability to work around holidays if necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledgeable with welding gasses.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 75+ in weight
  • Role may require bending, pulling, pushing, lifting, etc

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work will be performed indoors and outdoors
