Dewberry is a nationally recognized architectural, engineering and consulting firm with an immediate opening for an Office Director - Architectural Leader with diverse experience in Project Delivery, Office Operations, Business Development and Client Management. This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to help lead a skilled team of Designers, Project Architects and Project Managers. Under the Business Unit Manager, the successful candidate will support their physical office location and work collaboratively with Dewberry Leaders across the practice to deliver work in multiple Market Segments. It is anticipated that the selected individual will make significant contributions to all aspects of the practice.

Responsibilities

Selected responsibilities include:

    Office Operations - Contribute to annual budgets; Have visibility to monthly financial metrics; Workload planning; Evaluate and escalate potential risks; Work with Finance and Accounting; and oversee local Design, Quality, and Safety Advocate efforts.
  • Business Development - Build external relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors in select Market Segments; Participate / lead go-no-go meetings; Participate / lead RFP development; Select Consultants (internal and external); Fee development and negotiation, Contribute to the development and execution of Marketing Plans
  • Client Management - Serve as Client Manager for select clients; Coordinate with other internal Enterprise service leads to support integrated project delivery
  • Project Delivery - Serve as Project Manager for select projects and clients and supervise the efforts of the Project Managers in the office. Lead by example, demonstrating successful project management skillsets and mentoring others as needed
  • Talent & Leadership Development - Support professional development of all staff; Identify and recruit staff for positions which align with strategic plan; Conduct/delegate evaluations of staff performance; Work with Human Resources
  • Strategic & Tactical Planning - Support 2027 Dewberry Strategic Plan; Champion one or more tactics in the Architectural Tactical Plan
Required Skills & Required Experience

The right candidate will:

  • Lead Architectural Staff to successfully deliver projects from both a design and financial perspective.
  • Support Architectural Staff to promote professional growth and mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Operations and Market Segment Leadership to diversify and continue to grow the practice.
  • Act as Principal in Charge, Client Manager or Project Manager, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with Regional Operating Unit (where applicable) to cross sell services to select Clients.
  • Participate in Business Development and Marketing activities, independently and in conjunction with others, including RFPs and Interview.
  • Supervise internal teams, where appropriate, in the preparation of design deliverables for all phases of design.
  • In collaboration with Project Managers, set, monitor, and maintain project budgets, work plans, and schedules through all phases of the design process.
  • Attract, recruit, train, promote and retain high potential talent.
  • Expertly communicate with Dewberry leadership, internal teams, clients, consultants, and industry groups.
  • Be accountable for the design, technical quality, and financial performance of projects.
  • Be willing to travel.
  • Have aptitude to collaborate with industry leaders, clients, potential clients, promote Dewberry and raise awareness of Dewberry's position in the industry.
  • Strategic delegation of select responsibilities to provide upward mobility by advancing the professional and career development of staff; Balance personal direct and indirect hours as appropriate.

Pre-requisites:

  • Professional Degree in Architecture or Master of Architecture degree.
  • Registration in the State where you reside
  • NCARB Certified for reciprocal licensure
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in the A/E industry with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Project and Client Management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized.
  • Verifiable references attesting to required qualifications.

Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.

The projected range for this position is $141,000-$190,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
