What does the job involve?

Summary: Verifies and keeps records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment and transports them by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Receives pick-up and delivery orders from supervisors and route instructions to be delivered efficiently.
  • Loads all parts on trucks for delivery to vendors and customers ensuring that shipment is securely tied down.
  • Verifies and is responsible for safety of load to assure deliveries of parts and materials reach destination without loss or damage while being delivered.
  • Verifies pick-ups and deliveries against shipping documentation and handles all necessary paperwork.
  • Drives truck through a variety of traffic and areas, observing all traffic and private property rules governing trucks.
  • Verifies equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, water and air pressure.
  • Notifies supervisor when truck needs any major repairs or adjustment especially pertaining to safety.
  • Helps in shipping and receiving department when necessary.
  • Able to ship product using Mapics system, and process bar codes and freight bills.
  • Operates all types of material handling equipment.
  • Processes paperwork for all incoming processed and purchased parts.
  • Performs split / variance of processed parts.
  • Verifies quantity of parts received against its accompanying shop order.
  • Delivers supplies to each department.
  • Prepares daily reports for purchasing, accounting, and bond room using MAPICS.
  • Processes paperwork, verifies quantities, serial numbers, and other information using MAPICS.
  • Delivers returned parts and associated documents to bond room or the CRPR parts.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or 1- 3 months of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Computer Ability: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MAPICS inventory software and order processing systems.

Certificates:

  • Current class "C" driver's license and forklift certification.

Equipment used:

  • Forklift, truck, dolly, desk top computer.
