Job Description

Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at the , where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

The Nath lab is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position in computational cancer biology. Our lab aims to enhance cancer treatment outcomes through two main research areas:

  • Investigating the biological mechanisms underlying tumor progression: We use single-cell and bulk multiomic techniques to profile tumor samples, focusing on resistance mechanisms in breast cancer, glioblastomas, colon cancer, and lung cancer.
  • Advancing precision oncology through machine-learning models: We integrate multimodal patient data, including multiomic data and health record information, to develop predictive models for drug response. Furthermore, we work on creating new treatment stratification methods to personalize treatment for individual patients.

More information about the lab can be found here:

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with experimental scientists, mathematicians, and medical oncologists/surgeons to plan, design, and execute computational analyses.
  • Advance the integration of multi-omics and clinical datasets to uncover mechanisms of tumor evolution, therapeutic resistance, and potential biomarkers.
  • Contribute to the development of data analysis pipelines and software tools as a key aspect of this role.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in bioinformatics and genomics research and present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders, while also publishing research outcomes and presenting at conferences.
  • Work with the PI to develop a career development plan and participate in various career advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, or genetics.
  • Applicants with a wet lab background who are highly motivated to receive training in computational biology are also welcomed.
  • Strong fundamentals in cancer biology and basic statistics are essential.
  • Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate proficiency in programming languages like Python/R and omic data analysis.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms is advantageous.

Additional Information:

  • Applicants are required to submit a CV accompanied by a cover letter outlining how their career objectives align with the research conducted in our lab. Please indicate the expected graduation date if applicable.
  • The candidate's CV should include a detailed list of preprints/publications, along with the names and contact information of three potential referees.
