General Job Description

*The Speech Language Pathologist provides evaluation and treatment for patients experiencing speech/language/hearingproblems. In addition, the SLP will provide clinical oversight to Speech Language Pathology Assistants, provide presentations and classes about speech/language development and communication disorders. Job Roles

*Screens and diagnoses speech and language disorders in people of all ages and provides assessment and/or consultation regarding speech and language, oral-motor and feeding skills, according to each patient's needs and physician recommendations, and according to specific program/grant guidelines and protocols.

*Provides treatment and speech and language therapy for Senior patients.

*Demonstrates ability to develop, document, write and clearly communicate treatment goals and treatment plans for SLPAs post SL evaluation or consultation.

*Works effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Consults with and effectively communicates with other team members, assisting in monitoring patient progress, participates in case conferencing meetings and IFSP meetings, and participates in program planning meetings. Provides educational training and presentations for staff and patients.

*Completes all required documentation accurately, in a timely manner, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards; in addition, documentation complies with patients' insurance requirements.

*Actively monitors and manages own schedule. Confirms appointments and fills empty slots; keeps schedule full. When conducting home visits, plans effectively for efficient use of time and resources.

*May supervise SLPAs or interns, students, or CFYs. , including providing clear and appropriate communication, providing ongoing training, writing treatment plans for, assisting in implementation of treatment services, as directed by SLP supervisor.

*Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

*Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No more than 2 violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving with 7 years

*C.C.C. (ASHA) in Speech Pathology preferred; required if supervising SLP students, interns, or CFYs.

*CPR Certification.

*Current California State licensure as Speech Language Pathologist required; license must be maintained for duration of employment.

*Experience with young children (ages 0-5 years) is preferred.

*Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology required.

Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

*Ability to maintain good interpersonal interactions with clients and co-workers as a member of a multi-disciplinary community health team with a diverse multi-cultural population.

*Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural and economic groups.

*Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.

*Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation, obtaining background information and reports on patients, following up on appointments, etc.).

*Bilingual English-Spanish is preferred.

*Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity.

*Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

*Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with patients and family members who speak English as a second language.

*Knowledge of cognitive, emotional, and social development and/or deficits in clients of all ages and disorders.

*Knowledge of developmental speech and language theory and speech and language disorders (etiologies and effects), as well as knowledge of the use of diagnostic materials and therapy programs..

*Knowledge of therapy techniques and their applications to various disorders, ages, and personalities.

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
