Job Description
The Position

A healthier future. It's what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That's what makes us Roche.

Recently, exciting developments at Genentech and elsewhere have demonstrated the potential of inferring cellular disease state trajectories for the identification of novel drug targets. Genentech seeks a talented and highly motivated Computational Biology Scientist to play an integral role in data-driven projects in close collaboration with our Immunology Discovery Department.

The Opportunity

As an integral part of the team, you will focus on fibrotic diseases and work closely with computational biologists in Genentech Computational Sciences and experimental scientists in Immunology Discovery. The goal is to design and analyze multi-omic experiments from pre-clinical models and patient samples in ways that maximize insights into fibrotic disease biology/development. These insights will directly inform novel therapeutic target/biomarker discovery and address key questions related to forward and reverse translation.

  • You will be a part of a highly collaborative and dynamic research environment where we aim to translate our understanding of immunology to develop personalized therapies and diagnostics, transforming clinical practice and benefiting patient health.

  • You will have access to pre-clinical and clinical samples and datasets.

  • You will have access to state-of-the-art technologies and pioneering research.

Who you are

  • You have a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or similar, with a strong publication record. Alternatively, you have a Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, etc. combined with a record of high-throughput data analysis, supported by publication in this area.

  • You have a solid understanding of the relevant concepts in immunology and enthusiasm for learning more.

  • You have broad experience with data generated by one or more high-throughput molecular assays: Next-generation sequencing, flow cytometry, etc.

  • You have strong experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as Python or R for complex data analysis

  • You understand the statistical principles behind current best practices in high-throughput molecular data analysis

Preferred:

  • You have experience with single-cell assays (e.g., single-cell RNA-seq or CyTOF, ...)

  • You have a record of publication(s) in lead position(s).
