General Purpose and Scope of Position: The Sr Supplier Ops Strategist will assist in forward-thinking analysis of all our supplier data related to Ag/Pro-MarketChemistry Segments, Fertilizer and Seed. They will assess each of these segments and develop strategic options to maximize profitability for Wilbur Ellis and our customers. Data will include supplier rebates, farmgate pricing, working capital and payment terms. Will also evaluate impact of supplier go to market strategies including grower rebate and finance offers, along with the impact of seed. Role will also assist strategy team in developing generic defense & life cycle management strategies as key actives come off patent. Will also expand development of crop segment analysis. This role will work with current data teams and lead the development of financial tools to analyze and assist in executing strategic goals.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • Extensive knowledge of Ag/Pro-Market Chemistry, Fertilizer and Seed industry including knowledge of regional cropping trends, markets and crop economics
  • Ability to serve as a regional liaison and provide data to Strategy Team to assist them in negotiating competitive positions with suppliers and vendors in support of national strategy
  • Ability to foster teamwork to achieve goals that align regionally and nationally including maintaining and directing supplier strategy and product selection and coordination of local supplier opportunities within assigned region
  • Solid skill in ensuring business processes associated with Ag/Pro-Market Chemistry, Fertilizer and Seed purchasing are adopted and followed
  • Deep understanding of national and regional rebate redemption processes and ability to communicate and execute
  • Strong track record in inventory management and managing working capital
  • Ability to effectively present information and influence key stakeholders without authority
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to turn data analysis into opportunities and strategies
  • Ability to coordinate and manage Ag/Pro-Market Chemistry, Fertilizer and Seed Sales and Operations Planning (SOP) at a regional level
  • Ability to lead and execute with a deep organizational awareness

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Lead collaboration with internal teams: IT/Finance/Planning/Procurement/Strategy/Sales/Operations
  • Assist Strategy Team in oversight of supplier contracts, pricing, and complex vendor rebate programs to align with business objectives and enhance supplier relationships
  • Provide real-time insights into competitive pricing and rebates to assist in growing with Large Family Farms and other segments of our businesses as directed by Business Line Leaders
  • Create tool to track costs quoted to key customer segments to understand competitive trends
  • Analyze purchase, sales, and inventory data to identify best in class opportunities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and/or third parties regarding rebate agreements in order to foster strong partnerships and communication channels
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate the rebate and financial impacts into overall business strategy
  • Prepare budgets, strategic plans, presentations, forecasts, and financial analyses to ensure accurate rebate accruals and timely income reflection
  • Align Ag/Pro-Market Chemistry and Seed forecasts and rebate target tracking with EDI sales sent to the vendors
  • Create tools to evaluate brands by crop segments to align with strategic goals
  • Work with planning team to develop tools to create strategic plans
  • Lead communications with finance and sales management to support salesperson incentive programs to align with strategic goals
  • Phase traditional December rebate cash collections to earlier periods on the P&L in collaboration with Finance and Accounting
  • Develop and maintain analytical models using various platforms in order to present detailed financial analyses and benchmark analysis results
  • Evaluate what-if business cases and provide recommendations for automated solutions to support company strategies
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing for reporting functionality, gap analysis, program setup, and price rule configuration for accuracy and efficiency
  • Track rebate tiers and sales representative goals; allocate rebates to districts, branches, and sales representatives; and increase visibility to net prices
  • Maintain confidentiality of select rebate programs that can be tracked for executive leadership and total vendor profitability while limiting rebate visibility as needed
  • Generate actionable insights and scenarios for vendor negotiations to drive continuous improvement and innovation
  • Lead the development of rebate forecast and reconciliation tools and transition from current manual rebate tracking to new digital platforms
  • Lead process to communicate final rebate data to finance for accurate allocation of rebates
  • Lead improvement and development of cost tracking tool to understand current invoice and net costs at a national, regional, and local level. Including tool to communication to sales teams

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $118,300 - $165,660.
