Overview

Assist the electronic systems technicians, fire life safety technicians and/or certified electricians during the installation of new electrical low voltage systems and the repair and maintenance of existing low voltage electrical systems while maintaining compliance with national, state and local electrical codes. They assist electronic systems technicians, fire life safety technicians and certified electricians in the above activities at commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential locations. This is considered to be a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities
    Under the supervision of an electronic systems technician, fire life safety technician, and/or a certified electrician, productively and safely install, repair, maintain, and test commercial, industrial, institutional electrical systems.
  • Under the supervision of an electronic systems technician, fire life safety technician, and/or a certified electrician, productively and safely install, repair, maintain, and test residential electrical systems.
  • Under the supervision of an electronic systems technician, fire life safety technician, and/or a certified electrician, productively and safely install, repair, maintain, and test communications, security and fire alarm systems.
  • Under the supervision of an electronic systems technician, fire life safety technician, and/or a certified electrician, productively and safely use industry related hand tools and power tools.
  • Under the supervision of an electronic systems technician, fire life safety technician, and/or a certified electrician, productively and safely measure, cut and install low voltage wire for communications, security and fire alarm systems.
  • Under the supervision of an electronic systems technician, fire life safety technician, and/or a certified electrician, productively and safely bend, thread, and install conduit and other wire raceway systems for communications, security and fire alarm systems.
  • Under the supervision of an electronic systems technician, fire life safety technician, and/or a certified electrician, productively and safely feed to, pull into, and terminate wire and cable for communications, security and fire alarm systems.
  • Under the supervision of an electronic systems technician, fire life safety technician, and/or a certified electrician, productively and safely splice and terminate wires at junction points for communications, security and fire alarm systems.
  • Communicate effectively with foremen and other crew members.
  • Be courteous and cordial to our customers.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled and in good standing in a California approved electronic systems technician (EST) apprentice program subscribed to by Bergelectric Corp. Must maintain all classroom/schooling requirements, including passing grades. Must remain current on all work that is required by the respective apprentice training program.
  • The employee must understand the industry, including knowledge of state and federal electrical codes, fire/life safety codes, and industry installation methods that is commensurate with their level of training.
  • Understanding of the basic laws of electricity and electrical systems
  • Ability to understand technical instructions and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Ability to do basic mathematics and use electrical formulas.
  • Ability to follow instructions and assist electronic systems technicians, Fire alarm technicians, and/or certified electricians.
  • Ability to see details and compare details in objects.
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Ability to use industry tools and equipment productively and safely.
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Ability to visualize and sketch an electrical layout.
  • Flexible with working hours
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
Physical Demands
  • Lift 50 lbs. from the ground and pull 50 lbs. of force.
  • Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling and conduit pulling.
  • Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25 lbs. tool belt.
  • Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires.
  • Work off of ladders, man lifts or reach booms.
Working Environment
  • A variety of weather conditions including cold, snow, rain, heat, etc.
  • High noise levels
Salary Range
USD $20.00 - USD $23.00 /Yr.
