Life Tree Pharmacy is a for profit subsidiary of Merakey and works with a wide range of facilities and programs to support individuals in the Behavioral Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disability communities.

About the position:

Life Tree of CA will be the provider member of the clinical teams supporting the behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities and geriatric community. As a closed-door pharmacy, we are not open to the public as we are focused on this population. We will offer compliance packaging and delivery to support quality of care and improve outcomes.

Salary: $140-175K based on experience.

Position Details:

• Directly supervises employees in the closed-door Pharmacy.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Follows state and federal guidelines.
• Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care by performing the following duties:
• Reviews prescriptions issued by Physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
• Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals.
• Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
• Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
• Instructs pharmacists, interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy.
• Employs perpetual inventory.
• Active involvement in necessary clinical and strategic meetings with clinic professionals working towards improving patient care and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Current Pharmacist License (Must be in good standing) in CA.
• Min. 2 years related experience in a long-term care or closed-door setting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred; experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to make independent decisions.
• Ability to effectively and harmoniously interact with facility, management and other employees at all levels; promotes teamwork and professionalism.
