The LAZ Hospitality Services silo is a unique team within LAZ Parking dedicated to growth through operational and financial excellence. The Hospitality team specializes in Hotel Partnerships across the country and excels at developing relationships through training, human connection, and career development for our employees and partners.

The Spirit of the Position:

The Director of Food & Beverage supports the oversight of the financial, operational, safety and service-related success at their hotel. The Director of Food & Beverage will report to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for managing the Servers, Bartenders, Food Runners, and Baristas staff.

This location will require oversight of the following within the hotel:

  • Restaurants
  • Bar & Lounge
  • Market & Cafe
  • Hotel Common Areas
  • Guests' Rooms
  • Meeting Spaces

The key relationships the Director of Food & Beverage will be responsible for maintaining are:

  • Internally - F&B Staff, Kitchen Staff, Catering, Sales, Storeroom, Managers, Front Desk, Accounting, Housekeeping, Executive Offices, Engineering. Valet Staff
  • Externally - Hotel Guests, Hotel Event Clientele

Principal Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the financial, operational, safety and service-related success at their hotel.
  • Managing, planning, scheduling, training, and directing the activities of Shift Leads and frontline staff.
  • Ensure that increased revenue, controlled expenses, and customer satisfaction are maximized by maintaining the highest level of safety & service thresholds and initiatives that are aligned with the expectations of our client.
  • Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Food & Beverage outlets in accordance with hotel standards, along with meeting space functions.
  • Directs, implements, and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff to ensure 100% guest satisfaction.

Education + Certificates:

  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree in Business Management or Hospitality preferred.
  • Certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service.
  • Certification in alcohol awareness program.
  • Certification in CPR.
  • Manager level Food handling certificate.

Experience:

  • Management experience in hospitality/hotel industry required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as Food & Beverage Manager in a hotel required.
  • Senior F&B Manager experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of specific meeting room set-up styles.
  • Knowledge of organizing services from information on B.E.O.'s.
  • Knowledge of staffing guidelines/requirements for various types of F&B outlets.
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Compute basic arithmetic.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend P&L's.
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls.
  • Familiarity with Sales and Marketing tools for driving revenue.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
  • Ascertain departmental training needs and provide such training.
  • Direct performance of staff and follow up with corrections when needed.

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers/point of sales system.
  • Previous guest relations training.
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgement.
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Understand guest's service needs.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Work with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold).
  • Ability to work under variable noise levels.
  • Ability to work both outdoors and indoors.
  • Ability to work around chemicals.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
