A key contributor to McKesson's mission to improve health outcomes for all, the Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services business is dedicated to clearing the path for providers so they can care for patients. As a Clinical Pharmacy Advisor for Infusion Services, you will provide unbiased information and strategic guidance to Provider Solutions customers and internal stakeholders. This position is responsible for improving McKesson customer profitability via demonstrating use and value of McKesson clinical and business tools, providing clinical/operations/pharmacoeconomic surveillance support to physician practice customers, and development and maintenance of clinical tools, products and content with focus on oncology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, neurology, and ophthalmology. The clinical specialist will lead projects internally and with our provider customers using their advanced knowledge and provider segment experience.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Provider Solutions Leadership, GPO team, and Onmark customers, develops and implement strategies to optimize drug use initiatives.
  • The Clinical Specialist is an advisor to Provider Solutions customers. In this role they use their independent judgement to provide the following to customers:
  • Assist and direct customer practices, along with regional team members (GPO, Sales), in improving customer practice profitability.
  • Support sales personnel strategic selling of clinical tools and services to customers
  • Serve as in house experts on oncology and multispecialty provider topics for internal business units across the Enterprise
  • Establish relationships within practices, demonstrate use and value of tools, assist practice partner with tool/service implementation. Identify target practices based on sales team sell strategy, practice criteria for successful clinical tool/service implementation
  • Assist with drug therapy utilization reports to identify and analyze therapeutic target areas for customers.
  • Attend and present at strategic local, regional, and national conferences as a Subject Matter Expert in which presence or presentation would assist in developing relationship with target practices.
  • Author articles for publication as subject matter experts.
  • Develop and maintain clinical content for customers. Examples include new drug information sheets, drug comparison charts, best practices for drug shortages, operational best practices, and SOP templates.
  • Development and maintenance of tools required for standardization and benchmarking programs (Regimen Profiler, Analytics Dashboard).
  • Provide direct clinical and operational support to help physician practice customers understand and implement these clinical tools and services
  • Provide customer-based feedback to all McKesson divisions as warranted.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of oncology pharmacy experience required; management in oncology pharmacy is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of community oncology and multispecialty practices such as ophthalmology, rheumatology, etc.
  • Knowledge of payer, regulatory, compliance & licensure issues at the federal and state level relative to community oncology and multispecialty pharmacy
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent is required
  • Active Pharmacist license required

What Will Help You Excel?

  • Experience influencing physicians and practice administrators around appropriate oncology drug therapy. (Oral dispensing knowledge a plus.)
  • Proven experience managing many diverse projects and programs related to oncology pharmacy services that have demonstrated positive results on patient outcomes are required.
  • Success managing ongoing relationships, including primarily remote communications and technology.
  • Experience working with and analyzing data, including Pharmacoeconomics
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, to successfully look at system improvements in the clinical and business areas and interact with stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and follow-up
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word
  • Experience working in matrix environment is necessary
  • Board Certified preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$121,500 - $202,500
