Position Description
Job Title: Service Manager - Moffett (Mt. View)
Reports To: Operations Manager
Scope: Responsible for assisting the Operations Manager in managing and directing the daily service operations. Also is responsible for directly providing and overseeing the service work of others. Provides customers with technical support in person and over the telephone as needed.
Salary range: $115,000-$130,000 annually

Individual pay is determined by additional factors including job related skills, experience, applicable education or training and other relevant factors.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Demonstrates excellent diagnostic skills and accurately determines vehicle repair and maintenance needs.
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills and uses sound judgment.
  • Maintains the knowledge and skill necessary to perform vehicle maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provides customers with technical support in person and over the telephone as needed.
  • Responsible for profitable operation of shop and service areas in a safe, clean, and effective manner.
  • Assists in the orientation, training, and development of service operations personnel.
  • Coaches and directs service operations personnel and assists with situations involving issues related to employee performance and misconduct.
  • Assists with the operations compliance audit program (compliance to policies, procedures, standards, etc.).
  • Assists with efforts to ensure the location meets and maintains established standards for building and facilities, service operations, and safety.
  • Assists with efforts and initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate verbal and written information clearly and concisely to the Operations Manager.
  • Embrace and promote the customer service philosophy of exceeding customer expectations every day. Work closely with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Other duties may be assigned, as needed
Qualifications:
  • Must have an excellent knowledge of motor vehicle operating systems and preferably be ASE certified in one or more areas.
  • Demonstrated supervisory ability and a minimum of five years of experience in Bus Fleet Maintenance
  • Prefer Van Hool coach experience.
  • Requires good organizational skills to include the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and complete assignments within expected time frames.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess a working knowledge of current automated business systems preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, or similar programs and other applications as needed.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to move items weighing at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (80-100% of shift)
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift
  • Ability to work in and outdoors for extended periods of time
