Who is Senior Aerospace Spencer?

Senior Aerospace Spencer is an engineer-driven organization focused on high-pressure hydraulic fluid fittings for use in commercial and military aerospace applications. We specialize in source-controlled, standard, and proprietary fittings. Senior Aerospace Spencer also identifies solutions for fluid conveyance challenges related to fitting applications. Our engineering capabilities include conceptual design assistance, modeling, testing and qualification. Our senior engineering professionals are active members of the SAE G3 Fluid Fitting committee and are recognized industry-wide for their expertise.

What does the job involve?

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Set up and run various types of NC machines including lathes and Swiss machines.
  • Load machine programs, checks and makes required control settings. Places machine in operation and observes proper traverse to starting point before beginning operation.
  • Operate machine in manual mode to make unprogrammed changes where location can be determined by direct measurement.
  • Manually enter dimensional data into numerical control console for short run job or during the machining cycle as necessary.
  • Perform rework wherein the operations are essentially the same as described above.
  • Grinds, sharpens and touches up own cutting tools as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required, including use of conventional machines to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assists and/or instructs other numerical control machine operators.
  • Must have the ability to read programs and understand what functions the machine will accomplish.
  • Make adjustments and troubleshoot machine as needed.
  • Adjust and troubleshoot machine as needed.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 1-3 years' experience running a CNC Lathe or recent Machinist Tech Training Certificate.

Required Skills:

  • Prior CNC Lathe machine set up and operation experience.
  • Proven ability to consistently run good parts that meet production standards.
  • Strong skills and aptitude in math.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Experience working with various metal materials.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with and solve problems.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to read and interpret detailed blueprints, drawings and work orders.
  • Must be able to run multiple machine operations.
  • MUST be willing to work overtime and extended hours as needed to meet specific deadlines.
