Job Description

The Music Therapist is a professional with the skill and knowledge to conduct thorough assessments and implement developmentally and psychosocially appropriate music therapy interventions for patients. This individual must have the skills to provide emotional support, reflective listening and maintain therapeutic relationships. The position provides individual and/or group music therapy to support patients and their family members. Supervision of volunteers and students and provision of introductory guidance to interns as appropriate is also required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BC-MT Board-Certified Music TherapistMinimum of a bachelor's or equivalency degree in Music Therapy
  • Knowledge of human development and theory.
  • Knowledge of appropriate Music Therapy interventions with patients and families.
  • Knowledge of Music Therapy theory and how to apply theory to practice.
  • Knowledge of group dynamics and ability to facilitate structured and unstructured group music therapy.
  • Knowledge of Music Therapy assessments and how to document and implement their findings.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • Basic computer skills.

Department Description

The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy department helps to minimize the anxiety of hospitalization, increase understanding and strengthen coping skills while helping children to continue their typical growth and development.

Position Information

  • Salary or Pay Range: $36.99 -$48.79 per hour.

  • Shift Hours: 9:00am-5:30pm Monday-Friday, evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned
