The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate processing and recording of company's payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in daily auditing and exception review. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing daily payroll operations and processing multi-state payroll for 8500+ employees in a fast paced and high volume environment.

You will:

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  • Understand Employee and Employer taxes
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
  • Update and reconcile monthly bank statements for Accounting
  • Perform/Process Taxable Wage Audits - pay period, bank reconciliations, union dues, adjustments/amendments
  • Timecard edits & calculations based on state OT laws
  • Research and respond to associate payroll inquiries in a professional and prompt manner
  • Audit payroll exceptions
  • Process stop payments and direct deposit reversals
  • Backup for other members of payroll team
  • Daily Manual Check processing
  • Paid Time Off Accrual Plan setups/audits/testing etc.
  • Work with Manager & Payroll vendor to improve payroll process and test improvements in test environment
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by management

What you will bring to the table:

  • College degree or minimum 2-3 years of payroll processing multi-state payroll and data entry experience
  • Experience with UltiPro Time and Attendance (UTA) HRIS preferred
  • Experience with Employee &; Employer Taxes and Quarterly/Annual Returns
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, very organized and strong teamwork skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Must be flexible, dependable
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills

Bonus points if:

  • W2 & W2c Auditing and Processing
  • Quarterly and Annual Tax Filing experience
  • Garnishment Processing

Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job. The estimated salary range for this role is $45,000-$61,000.
