JOB SUMMARY

The DSP Lead is an integral member of every adolescent resident's treatment team, with responsibility for ensuring the health, safety, care and supervision of residents at all times. The DSP Lead, systematically works with the adolescent residents to increase skills and meet goals through community involvement and activities. The DSP Lead has additional responsibility to support the Program Director with regulatory compliance, house shopping, menu planning, creating activities and learning basic duties to back up the Program Director in their absence.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in the accomplishment of the treatment plan for residents, under the supervision of the Program Director.
  2. Supports the home in ensuring compliance with all regulating agencies.
  3. Supports the home and PD to ensure activity schedules and menus posted and current.
  4. Ensures home has all necessary food and supplies at all times.
  5. Willing to step into an interim role as Program Director as needed.
  6. Ensure all resident's medical appointments are scheduled, attended and documented. Ensure all medication is accurately documented, accounted for and reordered as needed. Conduct daily living skills sessions and re-socialization activity groups.
  7. Attend staff meetings as required, including weekly supervision meetings with the Program Director.
  8. Attend job-related conferences and also participate in a variety of in-service trainings, seminars, and practicum.
  9. Participate in carrying out individual and group treatment programs for residents and encourage resident participation in treatment activities.
  10. Motivate residents to develop self-reliance in daily living.
  11. Observe resident's physical condition and behavior; report significant changes to the Program Director.
  12. Maintain appropriate case recording documentation as per agency and contract guidelines
  13. Responsible for ensuring staffing ratio is at a minimum by being flexible in availability to help cover shifts as needed.
  14. Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  15. Respond to emergency health situations in appropriate manner as defined by emergency first aid training.
  16. Will drive on Agency business.
  17. Physical presence in the program is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. High School diploma plus two (2) years' experience providing direct client services.
  2. Must meet the minimum age of 21 pursuant to California Health & Safety Code Section 1562.
  3. Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable way to and from your scheduled shifts.
  4. Must have less than 3 points on DMV driver's record.
  5. Communicate effectively in written and spoken English. Ability to write acceptable progress reports required for treatment documentation.
  6. Work effectively with diverse ethnic, religious, socio-economical, and professional groups.
  7. Competently provide direct services for Developmentally Disabled residents of the facility.
  8. Understand and apply principles and techniques involved in the care and treatment of individuals or groups of Developmentally Disabled clients.
  9. Recognize contraindications, side-effects, and signs of medication complications and report to the Program Director.
  10. Analyze potentially dangerous situations accurately and take effective action.
  11. Provide input to the Program Director as relates to the treatment programs for the residents.
  12. Understand and follow written and oral directions.
  13. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  14. Must be certified in emergency first aid procedures prior to working alone with any client.
  15. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  16. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  17. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
