Harrisis looking for a Lead Biologist to join our team on Construction Package 1 (CP1) for the California High Speed Rail (HSR) project. Harris is one-half of the Wong-Harris joint venture serving as the Project Construction Manager (PCM) for CP1.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct construction compliance monitoring.
Provide species expertise and can guide and train junior/mid-level staff and educate construction personnel
Complete vegetation community mapping, invasive species identification and mapping.
Conduct general and focused biological surveys as well as sensitive species surveys.
Assist with data collection, entry, and management.
Basic Qualifications
5 + years of Biological Permitting implementation experience
3 + years of Team leadership experience
2 + years of Biological Monitoring on a Construction
2+ years of Technical Writing Experience
Experience working with agencies such as USFWS/CDFW/NMFS
Valid Driver's License with satisfactory driving record required
Preferred Qualifications
CDFW approved Designated Biologist (DB) for (2) Central Valley Species listed below:
California Triger Salamander
Swainson's Hawk
San Joaquin Kit Fox
Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA and 401/404
Implementing commitments under resource agency permits
Proficient use of Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth, and other related software.
with GPS units/software, ArcGIS, ArcCollector and sub-meter field data collection.
Physical, Mental & Emotional Requirements The incumbent may be required to sit for long periods of time using a keyboard and video display terminal. May be required to move objects up to 30 pounds. Must be able to interpret and reason out sensitive schedules and deadlines. Must be open to change and new information, adapt behavior and work methods in response to new information, or changing conditions. Must be able to deal effectively with people using tact and good judgment. Must be able to work closely with managers, supervisors, and other employees. Incumbent may also be required to travel for training.
Compensation & Benefits The annual salary range offered for this position is $85-105K.Actual pay offered will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
