Job Description

Your Role

The Compensation team is an in-house center of expertise and consulting team and provides leadership and guidance in the development and delivery of effective compensation strategies and policies that support BSC's goals, and are in alignment with enterprise values, philosophy and strategic direction.. The Senior Compensation Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Compensation. In this role you will be providing guidance and recommendations to the business to ensure understanding and effective use of our compensation programs.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Refine and administer compensation programs, potentially including base pay, executive compensation, sales compensation, annual review, job architecture and short- and long-term incentive plans, along with the supporting systems
  • Provide compensation-related research and analysis and make recommendations to resolve compensation issues including completing job audits evaluations, descriptions
  • Be responsible for participating in salary surveys and analyzing and interpreting market data to develop recommendations
  • Act as a subject matter expert in interpreting compensation policies, guidelines, and plan documents
  • Maintain and apply knowledge related to compliance and government regulations regarding pay, including FLSA
  • Act as a subject matter expert in advising business leaders, HR business partners (HRBPs) and Talent Acquisition as it relates to interpreting compensation policies, guidelines and plan documents, as well as providing analysis and reports to support this consulting as appropriate
  • Partner with HRBPs and Talent Acquisition on offers for promotions, laterals, job changes and new hires
  • Maintain the job structure framework through the job evaluation process, ensuring that positions are evaluated against the established set of criteria and are leveled consistently across the organization
  • Participate in end-to-end activities related to the compensation workstream component of the annual review process (Year End process) which includes merit budgeting, salary structure analysis, incentive planning, partnering on Year End system enhancements, communications, reporting activities and general project management
  • Participate and support medium to large-scale compensation projects and possibly take the lead on small-scale compensation projects


Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 5 years of prior compensation or relevant experience
  • Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Requires experience providing compensation consulting to a line of business
  • Experience working in a healthcare organization preferred
  • Experience with Oracle HRIS preferred
  • Experience partnering with HR partners and business managers to provide guidance on employee populations (including hourly, exempt and executives) preferred

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 99000.00 to $ 148500.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
