Organizational Unit Overview | The Department of Occupational Therapy has a well-established entry-level Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program and a newly added entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. The MSOT and OTD programs run concurrently and jointly admit a total of 26 students annually. All 26 students are admitted at the master's level. At the end of the second semester, approximately 1/3 of the MSOT cohort are admitted into the entry-level OTD program after mentorship and advising. Within the Department are 5 dedicated teaching and research labs, totaling 4,600 sq. ft. stocked with supplies and state-of-the-art equipment. Advanced technology (i.e., 3D printing, classroom video capture, virtual reality lab, fully integrated video management system) is available to support innovative instruction. The Department also has the pro-bono Student Run Clinic where MSOT and OTD students evaluate and treat clients as a part of their coursework. The Department is part of the largest College of Allied Health Sciences in North Carolina which includes communication sciences and disorders, physical therapy, and physician assistant programs, among others, supporting a variety of interprofessional education opportunities. In addition, a health science library is located within the same building and includes a librarian dedicated to supporting our program in scholarly work. Adjacent to the health sciences campus is East Caroline University (ECU) Health Medical Center, a 974-bed, level-1 trauma center which offers multiple opportunities to partner with clinicians. East Carolina University is the fourth largest of the 16 universities of the University of North Carolina system. East Carolina University has 29,000 students and is a major employer in Greenville, North Carolina (population of 93,000). Greenville is 90 miles east of the Research Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, & Chapel Hill) and 90 miles west of the beautiful Crystal Coast. |
Job Duties | East Carolina University invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track, Clinical Assistant Professor position. Primary duties will include: (1) teaching graduate courses, (2) overseeing the pro-bono Student Run Clinic and assisting with integrating it into coursework, (3) developing billable occupational therapy service in collaboration with the existing billable physical therapy clinic at ECU Physicians, and (4) serving the department, university, and profession. |
Minimum Education/Experience | At minimum, a post-professional doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field that is in progress and scheduled to be earned by July 31, 2025.
