LBYD was founded in 1973 with the incorporation of E. Glenn Bishop & Associates. In 1978, with the merger of the structural engineering firm Lane & Hodnett Structural Engineers, the firm became Lane/Bishop/Hodnett, Inc. In 1987, the firm became LaneBishopYorkDelahay Inc., which is known today as LBYD Engineers. In 2001, LBYD began offering civil engineering services. POSITION PURPOSE:

We are seeking a skilled modeler to enhance our team. The Building Information Modeler (BIM) will be responsible for performing the initial project set up and coordinating the structural 3D models with the project architectural 3D models. This position will ensure BIM standards; conformance to company policies and guidelines to create, develop, and modify models and drawings; generate and compile construction documents; and coordinate with internal team members to ensure project deliverables and deadlines are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop 3D models from design concepts or mark-ups provided by engineering or project management staff. Work under the direction of the Engineers; and other team members as part of a coordinated design team to produce complex geometry, design layouts, detailed drawings, and other construction documents.

  • Modeling building structures using architectural models.
  • Create detailed plans for building foundations and framing.
  • Cut and detail sections and elevations and create schedules.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans.
  • Documentation preparation and delivery.
  • Developing and maintaining BIM models and drawings.
  • Review 3D models for accuracy and compliance with industry and company standards.
  • Manage and store BIM files and related documentation.
  • Support project teams in understanding and utilizing 3D models effectively.
  • Learning, advancing and staying up to date with new versions of revit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Design and Drafting.
  • Two (2) years of experience.
  • Experience with Revit Structural.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to keep and handle confidential documents.
  • Familiarity with cloud collaboration platform BIM360.
  • Experience with Bluebeam.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills and personable demeanor.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to read and understand new and existing construction documents.
  • Demonstrate a sense of pride and adhere to high standards and quality in the project.
  • Multi-task between projects and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Understanding of basic Revit functions and processes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Potential to be around construction equipment when visiting job sites, be able to handle loud noises.
  • Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment.

This position operates in an office environment.
