Department Overview

Uses advanced concepts to implement and coordinates building management procedures and space planning activities or coordination of activities with multiple building occupants / departments. Facilitates and collaborates with building management on the design and planning for space allocation. Applies knowledge of organization buildings, infrastructure, policies and procedures. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. May mentor and train peers and supporting staff members. May supervise lower-level professional or support staff (for less than 2.0 FTE)

Position Summary

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional and implements and coordinates building management procedures and space planning activities. Works with Building Management to develops space allocation projects and scope, schedules and budget plans for management review, implements and makes recommendations for new and revised procedures. Oversees various facilities-related operational activities. Has general knowledge about several operational functions. Receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on new assignments. May function as a lead and resource or supervise support staff (for less than 2.0 FTE). Please note this is an on-site position at the Riverside Intellicenter.

Key Responsibilities

10% Replaces faulty electrical fixtures such as fuses, sockets and switches, and makes minor wiring repairs. Removes and replaces plumbing fixtures, clear drains and stoppages in sinks and toilets.

5% Coordinates emergency repairs during and after work hours.

15% Coordinates work crew activities to minimize disruption to building occupants.

45% Performs variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings and related facilities and equipment. Works independently and as a part of Engineering unit in the Building Administrative Service Center and support the maintenance and physical plant operation efforts of the engineering unit.

25% Performs basic building, furniture and equipment repairs, such as cleaning, maintaining or replacing door closers, locks, latches, hinges and other building hardware. Makes repairs to fences and gates. Operates and maintains a variety of power and hand tools of the various trades.

Experience

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years' experience in the areas of building facility management, project management and engineering, building codes, capacity, security, fire safety, organization and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge of architectural or engineering concepts.

Thorough and effective skills to multi-task and prioritize daily activities effectively.

Specific experience with complex building systems including building automation systems, work order tracking and management, security and access controls and life safety systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working in higher education

Advanced skill to multi-task and effectively prioritize large project work

Education

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years relevant work experience and/or an equivalent of 9 years related experience without the degree.

Full Salary Range:

$64,300 - $114,300

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
