Job Summary

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire plant operation that processes raw materials into high quality products, ensuring that equipment & buildings are sanitary and in good repair.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manages safety program and is ultimately responsible for plant safety; maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for the development of the management staff including Office Manager, Plant Manager and others who impact the performance of the facility.
  • Ensures facility compliance with Corporate policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Responsible for compliance with all food safety regulations.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors annual plant budget; reviews monthly expenditures
  • Recruits and hires plant, fleet, and administrative personnel; selects participants for management training program.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate wage rates for personnel subject to Corporate approval.
  • Responsible for proper training of all employees.
  • Maintains efficient and timely flow of all raw materials received and finished protein meal shipped.
  • Monitors performance of individuals to ensure that procedures are being held to highest standards.
  • Plan stock orders to minimize time and money spent on emergency ordering.
  • Responsible for all the equipment and buildings that are used to process raw material.
  • Conducts investigation of accidents that occur on site.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 or more years of experience in a mid-level management position in an industrial or plant setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering, operations management or agribusiness field preferred.
  • Experience in the areas of continuous improvement, including 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing concepts a definite plus.
  • Leadership ability, able to direct personnel; makes timely, accurate judgments regarding production and process quality.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite as well as an ERP system (ex. Oracle, SAP).
  • Detail oriented; highly organized.
  • Ability to work well with internal staff.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter; self-motivated.
  • Good math and computer skills.
