The Opportunity

Varian is seeking a Senior Global Installations Project Manager with advanced project management experience (Level 4). In this role you plan, coordinate, and supervise the implementation of Varian products with our customers.

This opportunity is suitable for a candidate who has a minimum of 5 years of project management or equivalent professional experience.

Initially the primary focus of this role will be to manage Ethos upgrade projects across the entire Ethos installed base in the given region (GEO). These projects will be highly complex and require the development of product specific process and product know-how.

You will be working with an upgrades team that will specialize in making these upgrades highly repeatable at a quality standard that meets our customer needs and minimize clinical downtime.

In the medium to long term, it is planned that this function will play an important role in the expansion of the Ethos installed base to further treatment delivery platforms.

The Role/Attributes

  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises the implementation of Varian products with our customers, contractors, and Varian internal stakeholders independently.
  • Works on projects of diverse scope and significant dependencies, typically several HW and SW product is in scope, project impacts complex site or large multisite
  • Routinely works with Luminary, Strategic, Complex, or other high-visibility customers and projects
  • Supports/leads New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
  • Perform routine project management tasks to ensure customer compliance with technical requirements, for equipment implementation and minor upgrades
  • Manages multiple projects concurrently
  • Participates in on-site visits and/or conference calls
  • Supports customers and contractors to prepare the facility for a successful and efficient implementation or upgrade
  • Provides qualified input and feedback with support from SMEs
  • Identifies and mitigates project risks and issues
  • Coordinates resources and equipment shipment schedules
  • Provides reports indicating installation activities including tight control of installation forecast
  • Uses knowledge articles, authors, reviews, approves, and publishes Project Management related knowledge articles
  • Knowledge Centered Services (KCS) Contributor / Publisher, may act as KCS Coach
  • May approve and publish customer-facing articles/documents
  • Provide feedback and work on process improvement, training, and documentation
  • May act as a stand-in for team manager, lead and mentor others

What Is Needed to Succeed

  • Advanced with project management and project management tools
  • Trained (certified*) on most products across product families (HW and SW)
  • Advanced in implementing all product lines within the scope of projects assigned
  • May specialize and develop in-debt knowledge of specific products and processes as it relates to Project Management as well as technical pre-requisites
  • Understand and apply Global Installation processes, follows standard practices and procedures, participate in the development of process improvements
  • Exercises independent judgment and prioritization and discretion in solving complex business problems
  • Requires no day-to-day supervision, understands when and from whom to seek guidance when needed
  • "Hardware Project Management-specific Requirements:
    • Must have a general knowledge of construction, codes, and government radiation regulations.
  • "Software Project Management-specific Requirements:
    • Must have a general knowledge of network design, software controls systems, and server management. Knowledge of the use and deployment of software in a healthcare environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Negotiating and conflict management skills required, able to manage escalations
  • Structured working methodology
  • Strong customer service acumen
  • Networks with internal personnel in their own area of expertise
  • Willing to learn and grow with passion, energy, and drive that can bring creative ideas, critical thinking, and a strong appetite for project execution

The base pay range for this position is

Min $86,500 - Max $155,600

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
