Job Description and Duties

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development Assignment may also be considered for this position.

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from DoNotReply@cdcr.ns2cloud.com or DoNotReply@CDCR (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.

As a Program Technician III, you will be the bridge between law enforcement officers, and state and national databases, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of warrants.

You will be responsible for:

1. Warrant Creation and Data Management/Analysis: Demonstrate your proficiency in navigating multiple computer systems, including the California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS). You'll efficiently extract relevant data to provide accurate and timely information to law enforcement officers, facilitating their decision-making processes.

2. Collaborative Call-Center Environment: Join a supportive team of dedicated professionals who work together to provide critical assistance to law enforcement officers. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate, share knowledge, and grow in a stimulating environment.

3. Interpret and Apply Applicable Laws and Regulations: Utilize your comprehensive knowledge of DAPO's laws, rules, regulations, policies, and terminologies. You'll interpret and apply these unique regulations, ensuring compliance and providing guidance to staff and law enforcement personnel.

4. National Collaboration and Liaison with External Law Enforcement Agencies: Serve as a valuable liaison between the department and external agencies such as the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Board of Prison Hearings, and other law enforcement entities. Your exceptional communication skills will foster collaborative relationships and facilitate effective information exchange.

5. Provide Expert Resource and Interpretation: Become a go-to resource for unit staff, departmental staff, and law enforcement agencies, offering your expertise in interpreting California laws, rules, regulations, and policies related to access and release of criminal information. Your insights and guidance will ensure compliance and accuracy with parole operations.

6. Deliver Training and On-the-Job Support: Share your knowledge and expertise by providing training sessions to staff, parole agents, field staff, and other necessary personnel. You'll ensure that individuals are well-versed in specific laws, rules, office policies, and operational procedures through on-the-job training or external sources.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
