Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on MEP systems, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures promptly to minimize downtime. Equipment Calibration: Coordinate and perform regular calibrations of critical scientific equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Maintain detailed calibration records and update as necessary. Preventive Maintenance: Develop, implement, and execute preventive maintenance programs for critical systems and equipment in compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory agencies. Prepare and follow standardized checklists to ensure consistent maintenance processes. Emergency Response: Respond quickly to emergency maintenance situations, including power outages, equipment malfunctions, and facility-related incidents. Employ troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement appropriate solutions in a timely manner. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, industry regulations, and applicable codes while performing maintenance activities. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections and documentation. Vendor Management: Liaise with external contractors and service providers to coordinate maintenance and repair activities. Monitor the performance of vendors, review service agreements, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repairs performed. Generate reports on maintenance activities, equipment downtime, and costs incurred. Provide regular updates to management on the status of maintenance operations. Knowledge Expansion: Stay updated on the latest advancements in life science facilities management, maintenance best practices, and regulatory requirements. Participate in professional development opportunities and training programs to enhance technical skills.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certifications or trade school education is desirable.
A minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a life science or research facility, with a strong understanding of critical systems and equipment.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and laboratory equipment.
Knowledge of industry guidelines, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements specific to life science operations.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building management systems (BMS) is preferred.
Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment, including on-call availability and occasional weekends or holidays.
