Midnight Oil (moagency.com), strategically located in "the heart of Hollywood" in Burbank, CA, is an extraordinary creative, and specialty print production partner to the majority of theatrical and streaming studios, with relationships often measured in terms of decades, not years. We uniquely and conveniently combine our Studio and Print Production capabilities all under one roof in our 120,000 square feet facility, with an Amtrak stop and the Burbank Airport directly across the street. Position Summary: The Production Artist provides project support to the internal pre-media team preparing files for internal and external manufacturing at the expected level of quality.

Work Location: On-site at our Burbank, CA office.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 2nd Shift, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Follow company Security Policy and asset management protocol
  • Follow direction by way of production assembly ticket instructions
  • Entering and editing of production assembly ticket instructions
  • Adhere to job schedule and time keeping procedures.
  • Preflight client files
  • Troubleshoot and problem solves file issues as they relate to desktop publishing and printing.
  • Perform various upload and download tasks.
  • Perform Xerox outputs and rule ups.
  • Adhere to ongoing and established Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Verification of assembled prepress files (dimensions, color, mechanical) and / or planning imposition layouts before moving files to the Production Floor or for uploads to other print vendors
  • Ensure that Approved Color, Content and Comps are in the job bag before moving job bags into production
  • Sending PDF emails for job approvals
  • Download photos from department camera and maintain photo library
  • Maintain organizational structure of GF template library, not limited but including posting company spec sheets
  • Continual training to maintain a skill level that is above what is needed
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years professional prepress experience
  • Diverse understanding of the graphic arts industry as it applies to pre-media, offset litho/silkscreen
    printing, large format digital printing, retail display and new technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support the team when time permits.
  • Understanding of general production workflow
  • Proficient in Creative Adobe Suite Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign / Acrobat, Outlook, Word, Excel, and
    other peripherals such as Pit Stop, Suitcase (font management), FTP software (CyberDuck), VNC
  • Possess overall exceptional Computer skills

The national pay range for this role is $30-$37/ hour. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
