Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Administrative Director of Ophthalmology, guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the medical director and physician staff, the Nursing Supervisor performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for adult and pediatric patients. The Nursing Supervisor provides oversight of nursing practice and participates in excellent clinical care, telephone advice, and patient education to the Ophthalmology and pediatric surgical specialty patients. The Nursing Supervisor will comply with the Medical Center house and Telephone Standards.
The Nursing Supervisor is accountable for their own practice and has primary responsibility for overseeing and utilizing nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe patient care in the outpatient clinical setting. They carry out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required and performs nursing care for patients with complex needs. The Nursing Supervisor is a leader and clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the practice and organization. The Nursing Supervisor serves as a resource for all clinical staff and initiates and participates in patient and staff education. The Nursing Supervisor assures nursing resources including but not limited to, nursing policies, procedures and protocols are kept current. The Nursing Supervisor assures the nursing team is informed and educated about nursing practices specific to Ophthalmology. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for nursing practice in the following Ophthalmology subspecialties:

The Department of Ophthalmology is an elite US News top 10 specialty and seeks a Nursing Supervisor to oversee nursing practice in the Ophthalmology clinics and service line at UCSF Health.
In partnership with the Administrative Director, Director, and Medical Director the Nursing Supervisor oversees nursing practice, regulatory readiness and supports the care of Ophthalmology patients.
The Nursing Supervisor partners with physician and optometry providers to enable optimal and world-class patient care in their practice areas.
The Ambulatory Ophthalmology practices at Mission Bay, East Bay, and Parnassus, over which the Nursing Supervisor has oversight, are comprised of the following sub-specialty practices:
