Brief Description:

The Gastro Esophageal Adenocarcinoma (GEA) Marketing Director will lead strategic and executional marketing activities related to the GEA indication for an exciting new product candidate - a first in class HER2 targeted bispecific agent. A BLA for this agent has recently been filed in biliary tract cancer (BTC) and there is an ongoing Phase III study for GEA.

The candidate will be the launch lead and drive adoption in GEA by developing strategic and tactical marketing plans. This position will report to the Senior Director of Marketing.

Responsibilities include leading the development of launch marketing strategies and tactics across all audiences - oncologists, patients, advanced practice providers, pathologists and so on. The candidate will eventually be responsible for hiring and managing Product Managers / Senior Product Managers as launch readiness shifts into execution. The Director will work closely with a wide range of internal functions, including regulatory, legal, medical, market access, and the sales team. The candidate will also be a key member of the product marketing leadership team and will partner closely with the Director for Key Customer and AD for BTC to deliver on an aligned brand vision and contribute to the overall success of the brand.

Essential Functions

This individual will:

  • Lead the GEA indication marketing efforts while also contributing to the overall success of the brand
  • Partner closely with Senior Director, Key Customer Director and BTC Associate Director on marketing strategies and execution to ensure alignment and optimization of BTC, GEA and any pan-tumor efforts
  • Hire, coach, and directly manage brand marketers when needed to support launch readiness
  • Define market shaping activities needed to prepare for eventual approval in 1L GEA
  • Lead a cross-functional US GEA indication team (including functions such as medical, access, sales, training, finance, legal, regulatory, market insights and analytics, forecasting, as well as marketing)
  • Set and implement the US GEA strategy and associated operating or tactical plan (e.g., personal and digital promotional tactics, peer-to-peer programming, key customer and conference-related tactics, etc.)
  • Manage and enhance internal and external relationships with colleagues, thought leaders, strategic business partners and vendors
  • Partner with sales and sales training to ensure field readiness for execution
  • Work with business operations to design market research initiatives, develop professional advisory boards and evaluate third party market data to generate a deeper understanding of customer / market needs
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulatory guidelines, and company policies
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and represent the Brand team at Promotional Material Review Committee (PMRC) meetings, and other internal meetings, as required
  • Develop and manage agencies and budgets associated with the GEA indication
  • Contribute to and shape the culture / leadership of the brand marketing team

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 8+ years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with significant marketing experience
  • 5+ years of oncology experience required
  • Launch experience required
  • Commercial people management experience preferred
  • Outstanding strategic thinking, analytical problem solving, planning and project management skills
  • Competitive mindset and drive for results
  • Solid communication skills including significant experience presenting to senior management and large audiences.
  • Team oriented individual with good judgement, outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrated cross-functional leadership
  • Acts decisively and independently: has confidence and ability to provide clear direction and make decisions (strategic & tactical) without guidance or affirmation (but knows when to inform/seek leadership buy-in)
  • Approximately 20-30% travel is required.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor's Degree (life sciences or a related discipline a plus)
  • Graduate degree (preferred)

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive.

For this role, the full and complete base pay range is $184,000-$276,000. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
