The Credit Analyst plays a crucial role in producing relevant customer evaluations and gathering legal and financial data to produce a comprehensive assessment of credit risk for both prospective and current customers. Given the complex nature of our customer relationships, advanced financial analysis and critical thinking skills are essential. The analyst is tasked with approving appropriate credit risk exposure within their established authority limits. Additionally, they are tasked with composing underwriting documentation that substantiates their decisions and will present recommendations to management for evaluations that exceed authorized limits. This documentation encompasses an assessment of the customer's historical and anticipated fiscal performance and judgements about the customer's ability to navigate existing and potential future risks.

Responsibilities

Credit Process Management

  • Evaluate and process customer credit requests for commercial and governmental entities, documenting and implementing credit limit adjustments across various platforms.
  • Perform annual credit reviews, proactively communicating with external customers and sales for current financial data.
  • Maintain accurate customer files, request and analyze trade references and credit rating reports.
  • Analyze customer financial statements and engage in effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Determine or recommend customer credit limits based on thorough reviews, ensuring compliance with Mansfield Risk policy.
  • Update and maintain credit limits across multiple systems.
  • Request/manage customer trade insurance policies and other collateral support required for credit approval.
  • Collaborate with the Legal department to obtain necessary documents for customers.
  • Manage and communicate fixed price margin reports to both internal and external parties.
  • Contribute to departmental projects and fulfill other management directives as assigned.

Core Competencies

  • Strong understanding of financial statement components and the ability to effectively communicate financial analysis to a variety of audiences.
  • Capability to extract and analyze financial and supportive data for computing and interpreting various financial ratios.
  • Robust research skills to locate relevant financial data, develop an understanding of organizational structures and perform comprehensive Know Your Customer ("KYC") due diligence on potential customers.
  • Fundamental knowledge of legal business terminology in the financial context.
  • An understanding of derivative hedging in the context of financial exposure and credit risk management.
  • Ability to autonomously meet dynamic deadlines.
  • Effective time and management project management skills are essential.

Additional Responsibilities as Required

  • Tailor communications and processes to both internal and external customers.
  • Participate in additional training opportunities provided by management.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to invest extra time to achieve both personal and departmental goals.
  • Identify and concentrate on actionable steps within one's control to attain success.

Position Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk, or a related field.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Desirable 2+ years of prior experience in a similar financial or analytical role.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Experience with QuickBooks, PDI, and Power BI is a plus.

Work Environment

  • Standard 40-hour role with occasional overtime as required. Hybrid work schedule available once training is completed (3 days in the office, 2 days remote). Training could take up to 6 months or more, depending on the person.
  • Extended periods of sitting as part of the work routine.
  • Proficient use of hands and fingers for operating a computer keyboard, mouse, and other components.
