JOB SUMMARY:

Manually assembles crates with wood and corrugated material. Packages materials and products manually, responsible of performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Interprets work order information for all necessary packing parameters, i.e., shipping instructions or other products to be shipped with this order.
  • Cuts packaging material (wood/cardboard) to necessary dimensions with a radial saw.
  • Assembles cardboard boxes and wood boxes using an air staple gun, nail gun, and knife levers to lift frame crates.
  • Wraps protective material around the product. Starts stop and regulates the speed of the conveyor.
  • Inserts product into crate and seals.
  • Determines proper color-coding label per work order.
  • Nails, glues, or closes and seals containers. Labels containers, container tags, or products.
  • Packs special arrangements or selections of products.
  • Inspects material, product, and containers at each step of the packaging process.
  • Records quantity completed and work order number in a computer.
  • Moves packaged product to the shipping dock using a forklift or pallet jack.
  • Moves door crates using a dolly and transports frames using transport carts.
  • Constructs lumber pallets using various tools such as staple guns, nail guns, pliers, etc.
  • Maintains efficiency to 90% or better.
  • Maintains work area in an orderly and safe manner per company rules and procedures.
  • Compliance with all safety protocols

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Basic understanding and ability to use of air staple gun, nail gun, radial saw, and knives.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None required. Forklift certification preferred

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills.

Mathematical Abilities:

Ability to read a measuring tape. Basic math skills.

Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:

Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.

Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)

Basic English reading and comprehension skills.

Other Skills (Technical, or Other special knowledge and abilities)

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time up to 4 hours/day, bend up to 1 hour/day, stoop up to 30 minutes/day, squat up to 10-15 minutes/day, and use his/her hands repetitively for long periods of time up to 7 hours/day.
  • Ability to lift/pull/push/force 50 lbs. up to 8 hours of the shift.

Work Arrangement : Onsite

Salary Range : $17.00 - $19.00
