I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Account Director maintains, grows, and sells advertising space within the California market.This position interacts extensively with agency and client personnel. This position will also work with management to create new business opportunities and exceed sales goals by providing strategic thinking to meet client/market challenges. The Account Director maintains or improves share-of-market for the magazine and maximizes profitability.

II. Essential Job Functions

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

80%

  • Sells advertising space in the magazine and website via personal contact and telephone calls to assigned clients and agencies within sales territory.

  • Selling brand Sponsorships (ie: T+L Worlds Best or F&W's Classic (s))

  • Generates advertising revenue to meet expectations. Builds and develops client relationships that meet or exceed sales goals

10%

  • Utilizes visual presentations, research reports and special sales data in personal contact sales to individuals and/or groups.

5%

  • Provides management with accurate and timely sales forecasts. Completes related reports and Request-For-Proposals (RFPs).

5%

  • Participates in strategic planning and brainstorming.

  • All other duties as assigned.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience:

Eight years sales, agency, or client experience, preferably in magazines.

Experience with Luxury clients.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and integrate resources to help customers reach their objectives.

  • Strong organization and scheduling skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to meet with all level client and agency contacts.

  • Ability to win business using research and marketing programs based upon insights gained from meetings or RFPs. Ability to thrive in a competitive, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Solid grasp of marketing concepts.

  • Strong sales skills.

  • Good problem-solving skills.

  • Good computer skills including expertise with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Adaptable and effective negotiating skills.

Pay Range

Salary: $102,900 - $147,000

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees.
