CONTRACTOR SPECIAL SECURITY OFFICER (CSSO)

SpaceX is looking for a Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) to serve as a primary security point of contact and liaison with government customers. This is an opportunity to fill a critical role within a dynamic and high-tempo environment focusing on programs that are pushing the boundaries of industry and technology. A successful candidate will be a self-starter and problem-solver with the ability to convey security requirements to a diverse group of technical personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform as the primary CSSO for SCI level programs by providing security support to Mission Management and technical staff as needed for program success
  • Review, track, and monitor personnel billet plans for classified programs
  • Coordinate additional security tasks such as polygraphs, SCI indoctrinations, debriefings and security education & awareness campaigns
  • Facilitate associated badging and physical access to secure spaces
  • Review Security Classification Guides (SCGs) and assist program teams with proper classification protocols
  • Process incoming and outgoing classified visit access requests
  • Maintain accountability of sensitive program materials
  • Support the program's security infrastructure by developing and implementing various security documents such as Co-Use Agreements (CUA's), security CONOPS, Operations Security (OPSEC) plans, Program Protection Implementation Plans (PPIPs), DD254s, etc.
  • Assist with self-inspections and government compliance inspections
  • Attend and coordinate various customer meetings and working groups

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years security-related experience performing responsibilities specifically within a classified environment
  • 1+ years working experience of 32 CFR part 117 (NISPOM), Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), and/or other security policies and procedures
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility. Please note that an active clearance will provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. As such, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong working knowledge of TALON, Scattered Castles, or other customer-specific systems
  • Direct experience creating PPIPs, OPSEC plans and other security documentation

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to favorably complete a U.S. Government CI scope polygraph
  • Ability to travel in support of mission requirements
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed in support of mission-critical deadlines and milestones

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:

Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO)/Level I: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00/per year
Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO)/Level II: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Those with an active clearance will receive a 10% differential, up to an additional $15,000 annually, once officially briefed into a classified program."

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. * 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. * 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
