The Operations & Maintenance Technician III (Carpenter), utilizes and advances carpentry skills, experience and knowledge in the practices, procedures, and methods of building, repairing, and renovating structures and their associated parts. Those skills include rough, finished and bench carpentry as well as cement placement and finishing and masonry. Performs practices and procedures of installing, improving, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of rough and general carpentry services and products including concrete structure formwork, concrete step formwork, flatwork formwork, rebar placement, concrete placement, and concrete finishing. Performs concrete work including mixing cement, concrete demolition, concrete saw cutting, and concrete core drilling.

Builds, maintains, and improves a variety of structures and associated fixtures composed of wood and contemporary composites or other related materials. Supports the operational core of water and power reliability by effectively meeting or exceeding customer expectations through carpentry practices applied to maintaining and improving the quality of working and operating environments within treatment plants, conveyance and distribution systems and facilities, shops, offices, housing, outbuildings, and other occupied and unoccupied structures.

Schedule: 4/10, Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or high school certificate of equivalency in addition to a minimum of 3 years experience as demonstrated by practical application of techniques and practices specific to carpentry.
OR
High school diploma or high school certificate of equivalency and attainment of skills through a recognized carpentry trade training program and/or applicable related experience within a industrial environment

Experience and knowledge as demonstrated by practical application of techniques and practices specific to the carpentry trade. Skills necessary include rough and finished carpentry and masonry, and light equipment operation.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

    Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
  • Certificate for power/powder actuated tools
  • Crane Certification
  • Manlift certification
  • Forklift certification

Physical Demands:

Heavy tasks may require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, with intermittent need to lift and carry materials and/or equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Expectations of Hours of Service, Emergency and Stand-by Service:

Employees in this position may be required to work off-shift hours and/or stand-by services to address operational needs and emergencies as required. May be required to work extended periods away from the normal reporting location.
