The Job
The Video Editor is responsible for assembling recorded footage into a finished project that aligns with the NHRA vision and is suitable for broadcasting. This position will primarily edit a variety of video production projects, be an independent superior visual storyteller, and be able to develop, create, and execute the highest quality television and digital productions.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Offline/Online editing of long-format television shows in network format.
  • Edit, encode, and upload video and other digital assets in a timely fashion under shifting deadlines and pressures.
  • Tell visual stories through editing with pictures and sound.
  • Incorporate multiple cameras and shoots to tell a cohesive story.
  • Edit and design sound on long and short format videos.
  • Review audio and visual footage.
  • Use computer software to organize clips into a cohesive unit.
  • Add appropriate sound effects or graphics.
  • Review the finished product to catch errors before submitting it for review.
  • Assemble raw footage and transfer or upload to a computer.
  • Follow a script, screenplay, or outline.
  • Input sound to enhance footage, which may include selecting music and writing voice-overs.
  • Input graphics to enhance footage.
  • Review and correct lighting, color grading, and editing.
  • Work closely with directors to present a final product that matches their vision.

Minimum Skills/Experience/Education Requirements
  • A BS preferably in a media-related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of required experience editing and logging in a television production environment.
  • Proven work experience as a Video Editor.
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio required.
  • Ability to manipulate footage, create graphics, and edit in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects preferred.
  • Superior video storytelling abilities.
  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing is preferred.
  • Preferred experience with multi-channel audio editing and sound design.
  • Some motion graphics experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation, and continuity.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Media Asset Management.
  • The ability to manage projects, build promotional relationships and participate within cross-functional teams is required.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail with an ability to innovate and work independently with minimal supervision on a project-by-project basis, occasionally under tight deadlines.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbal with all levels of management.
  • A background in sports or motorsports racing is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to work at a computer all day.
  • Ability to talk on the phone as needed.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to travel via air or car as needed to races.
