The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, Tele-behavioral Health Clinic is seeking to hire a Social Worker to join its dynamic clinical team. The Telebehavioral Health Clinic is a virtual outpatient behavioral health clinic that utilizes video conferencing technology to provide evidence-based care.

Services offered include evidence based and evidence informed mental health services and support services to clients 12 years and up.

The Social Worker will hold a critical role in providing high quality clinical services to clients. Candidate should have experience in collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and external systems. Demonstrate the ability to utilize an integrated care approach in assessment, treatment, planning, and intervention. Have direct related experience with successful completion of an internship or experience in telebehavioral health.

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care, interventions and services to age related and cultural needs of individuals served including specific training and experience in using evidenced based practices. Knowledge of principles and practices of assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention; interviewing techniques; psychosocial problems; principles, practices and techniques of counseling and case management documentation processes. Demonstrated ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress. Ability to deal tactfully with others. Demonstrated interpersonal, critical thinking and communication skills.

Required fluent (verbal and written communication) in Spanish, registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW).

This is a grant-funded, 100% remote position.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts individual diagnostic sessions. Provides referral, short term counseling and crisis intervention services as appropriate. Submits reports to government agencies as mandated by law.
  • Consults with department administrators regarding problems presented by staff and/or faculty related to psychosocial factors such as chemical dependence, job related stress and interpersonal relations with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors. Leads clients to development of strategies for conflict resolution.
  • Reviews and evaluates client progress and establishes follow-up contact. Determines evaluation methodology and establishes appropriate clinical techniques. Maintains confidential client records. Reports and analyzes results.
  • Assists in development of community-based referral network. Organizes, coordinates, and conducts reviews of community resources and social service agencies and other psychosocial referral sources for employees. Plans and implements outreach activities and promotional campaigns.
  • Manages the delivery of services to targeted program participants or beneficiaries.
  • Communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate. Develops and maintains automated or manual systems and procedures to facilitate program operations.
  • Assists in development of prevention, intervention, referral and outreach services.

Represents director in his/her absence or at the director's request.

  • Supervises graduate student interns and liaises with appropriate academic unit(s). Coordinates hourly professional staff. Provides administrative direction and clinical consultation. Conducts staff development activities.
  • Develops and conducts workshops, seminars and related activities appropriate for USC faculty and staff. Conducts training sessions with university administrators regarding chemical dependence, stress and referral procedures. Assists in design of new training activities. Coordinates and supplements training activities provided by departments and school
  • Participates in development and dissemination of promotional materials to include brochures and advertisements for university publications. Promotes services provided.
  • Develops a strength-based treatment plan that includes mental health goals and case management goals. Assesses treatment progress and adapts interventions as needed
  • Incorporates outcome measurements, to improve access, client engagement and effectiveness.
  • Provides assertive outreach and case management to include referral and linkages to internal and community support services.
  • Attend weekly clinical meetings

Minimum Education:

Master's degree

Minimum Experience:

2 years

Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience

Minimum Field of Expertise:

Social work. Must be licensed or license eligible.

Preferred Experience:

5 years

Compensation: The annual base salary for this position is $81,555.60 . When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
