We are currently accepting applications to fill one (1) Heavy Truck Driver vacancy at the South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station for the Resource Recovery and Waste Management Division of the Public Works Department.
We are also accepting applications to establish employment lists for future Full-Time, Part-Time, and Extra-Help Heavy Truck Driver vacancies in Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley.
Civil Service Rule (CSR) 905 Extra-Help Appointments. An extra-help appointment is defined as an appointment made to a non-regular, non-permanent position established on a temporary basis to meet peak loads, unusual work situations, seasonal and recurrent work, intermittent assignments, or emergencies.
PLEASE NOTE: This position will have a flexible 9/80 work schedule and the incumbent may be required to work some weekends and holidays. This position will be located in the Santa Barbara however the selected candidate(s) may need to travel throughout the County.
Work schedule varies and includes holidays and weekends. Working conditions involve operating a truck and/or loader for ten-hour shift. Environmental conditions include exposure to wind, dust, rain, and hot and cold weather, as well as hazardous materials.
