This Southern California facility located in Paramount, CA is the world's first large-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility. It highlights Air Products commitment to energy transition and supports California's decarbonization by producing renewable aviation fuel.

We are seeking a Vacuum Truck Mechanic/Operator who is responsible for driving, operating and maintaining vacuum trucks, running water blast pumps, as well as the routine maintenance of all vacuum system components and water blast pumps. The Mechanic will also train and fill in as a Technician when required. This position requires a high level of situational awareness to ensure your own safety and the safety of those on-site during busy operations involving site traffic, heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and emergency situations.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide quality work, while promoting safety at all times
  • Perform daily inspections of equipment, including required AQMD log sheet
  • Determine whether all project requirements and safety issues are addressed in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before starting work at any jobsite
  • Use required equipment during the job in a safe and efficient manner; handle routine maintenance issues on equipment as needed
  • Accept job assignment rotations at the jobsite and assists in cross training technicians on accurate operation of the vacuum truck
  • Use proper PPE and report incidents/ accidents immediately to the job-site supervisor
  • Foster a "team approach" atmosphere; always displays a positive, respectful, and professional attitude; contributes to the "continuous improvement" philosophy.
  • Clean out the vac truck and disposes of the waste on-site.
  • Timely completes and submits the manifest on waste disposal.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid class "A" CDL with a tanker endorsement and without an airbrake or automatic restriction and one-year of driving experience using a 10-speed transmission
  • Be insurable by Air Products' carrier in order to drive service vehicles
  • Proficient at driving 3-axle top-heavy equipment and pulling small heavy trailers
  • Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations
  • Strong organizing and prioritizing skills
  • Refinery experience strongly preferred
  • Physically capable of: routinely lifting 65 pounds, working in confined spaces using a full- face respirator (occasionally with bottled/supplied air), working at heights of up to 150 feet, wearing required protective clothing, and repetitively bending, squatting, and kneeling
  • Familiarity with all laws, policies, and practices relating to safe working conditions including DOT (as well as other government) regulations)
  • Possession of or ability to obtain 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training
  • Available to work weekends when needed

($85,842 is the starting salary, paid hourly) PLUS overtime and bonus. Level of pay based upon classification and experience).
