We are looking for a Drilling Coordinator- Hydro/TWS to join our Operational Geotechnical team at Rio Tinto Kennecott Bingham Canyon Mine. You will be responsible for the daily supervision of contractor drilling and well services being carried out by rotary, core, sonic and horizontal drill rigs in addition to specialized well equipment. Candidate will be coordinating contractors carrying out drilling, borehole geophysical studies, pump contractors & technicians, drill fluid engineering, as well as integrated operations for road & pad construction.

This is a great opportunity for a motivate individual who wants to join a worldclass team. Working a 4/10 schedule that will include a weekend day (Wednesday-Saturday). Reporting to Senior Coordinator - Drill Contract, you will be:

  • Assisting in the planning and providing direct supervision of drilling programs that provide all samples needed for modelling geology, geotechnical and hydrogeology attributes.
  • Supporting the geophysical logging program
  • Evaluating and monitoring contractor safety systems in accordance with RT drilling and safety standards.
  • Assisting with well design and pumping system oversight
  • Conducting data collection, analysis, and interpretation of hydrogeological data
  • Providing portions of analysis for reporting on project activities, progress issues and outcomes.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • 5 Years of Rotary/Core Drilling Operations
  • 5 Years of Proven Leadership Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to safely plan and supervise drilling operations is a fundamental requirement for this position.
  • Well-developed sense of urgency and a conviction to maintain safety operational compliance. Ability to implement and manage continuous improvement processes.
  • Intermediate understanding of testing options (open/ cased hole, packers, air lift, slug, and recovery) and geohydrologic and geotechnical instrumentation
  • Ability to assess geologic and geophysical logging perform QC of initial logging function, and to assure acquisition of quality samples.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint programs is essential. Helpful skills would include KruxMetrix, MineSite and acQuire.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
