Position Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Quality Service Field Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Quality Service Field Technician, you will be responsible for providing phone, email and field based technical support and services for our HVAC products specific to the commercial chiller market to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
You will report directly to the Service Manager of IAQ Aftermarket

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out all repair and maintenance work to Jetson and other manufacturers' refrigeration and air conditioning equipment to a high standard of accuracy
  • Extensive HVAC technical and product knowledge
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information both verbally and in writing
  • Sound judgment to troubleshoot and resolve HVAC product and application issues
  • Ability to multitask in a call center environment
  • Work and liaise closely with customers
  • Project Work - from time to time the role will require the onsite assembly of units delivered in a modular format. This will require mechanical, electrical and refrigeration knowledge.
  • Submit paperwork in a prompt and efficient manner
  • Report day to day activity to the Service Manager to ensure availability and productivity
  • Submit site reports within prescribed timeframe
  • Able to work outside of normal office hours on a regular basis including weekends
  • Mechanical aptitude with minimum of two years product reliability or customer service experience
  • Comfort being the 'face of Modine' while interacting with customers
  • Familiarity with drawings, wiring diagrams and bills of material
  • Solid math and computer skills, including Office Suite of products - or aptitude to pick up quickly
  • Follow health and safety policies and procedures at Modine and at customer site
  • Submit expenses paperwork and timesheets within prescribed timeframe
  • Act in a professional manner towards customers to always promote company image.
  • Exceptional ability to work effectively with limited supervision
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record
Required Education & Qualifications
  • A two-year technical degree in HVAC or related discipline preferred (Substantial technical experience may substitute for a degree)
  • Minimum 3+ years of Chiller service or Refrigeration in a commercial setting.
  • 2+ years of field service management experience is preferred
  • Must have the ability to diplomatically resolve problems and project the appropriate company image while interacting with customers
  • EPA Type II Certification required (Universal EPA preferred)
  • Applicable HVAC license preferred
  • Clean driving record
  • Up to 85% travel
  • Chillers - experience of service, maintenance and repair of chillers and chiller systems
  • Close Controls system - Ability to work through controls systems for Diagnosis of faults, service and repairs
  • Experience of working within commercial/business critical environments.
  • Strong electrical experience with the ability to read detailed electrical schematics to diagnose faults accurately.
  • A/C Refrigeration knowledge - be able to measure and understand superheats/sub-cooling/pressures and temperatures.
  • Knowledge of different compressor technologies would be an advantage
  • Experience with different refrigerants would be an advantage - R410A, R134a, R32, R1234ze.
  • Controls navigation knowledge - Carel & MCS
  • Populate the division warranty information gathering system through dialogue with customers, contractors, engineers, and representatives to capture information relative to the installation and application of Airedale and Jetson equipment.
  • Practical Skills - Mechanical Assembly/ Brazing Experience
  • Organized, with a proactive positive personality, and an ability to self-manage.
  • Good communication and report writing skills
  • Computer literate PC knowledge - general skills in Microsoft office
  • Excellent customer service/facing skills
  • Problem solving skills
