The Technical Support Engineer is a member of a techno-functional team specialized in supporting mission critical software for a federal government contract and involves solving complex engineering problems to support the customer's business operations. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for planning, conducting, and directing the analysis of highly complex business problems to be solved with automated systems, cross-functional and cross business domains within the aviation flight crew area. The role we are offering you:

  • Provide on-site technical support

  • Make recommendation to customer in areas of scheduling and crew assignments

  • Develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts

  • Develop Business Requirements, Change Requests, Acceptance Criteria, Business Test cases, and Release Notes in support of implementations

  • Interface with all levels of the customer unit including, but not limited to, end users, software & infrastructure engineers, program managers and client management

  • Install and test releases in multiple environments

  • Provide User training and create documentation for new functionality

  • Coordinate with third party vendors to support customer

  • Demonstrate effective teamwork skills

  • Work efficiently with minimal oversight

  • Ensure timely delivery and completion of projects

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to secure Public Trust Clearance

  • Must reside in DMV area and be able to commute to customer site on all workdays

  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends and have flexible work hours during application maintenance events

  • In-depth experience of UNIX commands

  • Working knowledge of Oracle database, PL/SQL programming

  • 3+ years related experience as a business analyst with working experience in CREW or Airline Operations Management or similar experience (preferred)

  • Previous experience with UNIX ksh and csh shell scripting

  • Airline Crew Scheduling experience

  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Must be organized and be able to manage multiple issues simultaneously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Identify problems with ability to determine when appropriate escalation is required

  • Ability to identify problems, root causes and apply solutions proactively

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Previous experience with AirCrews, Crew Control or Crew Manager

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience strongly desired
