HOK is currently seeking a Security/Electronics Engineering Design Professional to join our team in Houston. This role is responsible for the setup, production, maintenance, and management of drawings and data within the Revit model environment for the Security/Technology group. This role also ensures accuracy and linkage to the appropriate Architectural, Structural, and MEP models and contributes to other tasks for the low voltage system group at large.

  • Set up low voltage models based on the project architectural model.
  • Set up project models using developed templates.
  • Input model content as directed by project low voltage designers and other team members.
  • Assist project designers in coordinating the low voltage discipline work with Architecture, Structural, and MEP disciplines.
  • Printing/plotting of drawings.
  • Maintenance of Revit families.
  • Quality audit checks on title sheets, layers, fonts, and line types.
  • Ensure BIM standards and guidelines are followed.
  • Uses client management systems for documents and drawings.
  • Assist Architectural discipline in compiling construction documents relative to low voltage drawings and specifications.
  • Assist low voltage designers in clash detection and conflict resolution with MEP and other systems.
  • Organizes and maintains Revit models and AutoCAD documents for multiple projects.
  • Works closely with project team and assists in completing projects on aggressive schedules.
  • Performs all work in a clear, complete, and accurate manner.
  • Uses Revit to check the design for interferences with other building elements.
  • Utilizes knowledge and experience in applying modeling and drafting principles for drawings.
  • Produces equipment schedules, making changes and adjustments as necessary with input from the engineering team as required.
  • Implements and utilizes HOK Standards for projects and processes.
  • Actively seeks new knowledge related to engineering practices, principles, and regulation changes.
  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
  • Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.

Required Skills
  • Understanding of basic Revit functions and automated processes.
  • Basic understanding of plotting/printing concepts.
  • Basic skills in production of construction documents using Revit.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to produce deliverables based on guidance from low voltage designers.
  • Ability to perform standard computer drafting functions using Revit and AutoCAD and be able to resolve design conflicts.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in team environment.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in engineering or Computer Aided Drafting Technician degree or diploma preferred.
  • SME level knowledge of Revit.
  • Basic understanding of construction disciplines and bid documents.
  • 1-3 years of drafting experience working on a wide variety of building types, such as commercial, corporate, institutional and civic, justice, science and technology, aviation and healthcare facilities preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of low voltage systems for corrections and other government applications is a plus.
