Manager, GMP Materials Gaithersburg, MD

Your Tasks:

Responsible for managing the daily workload planning and operations of a GMP warehouse environment to ensure compliance to all regulatory, safety, quality,
and corporate procedures. Accountable for meeting all service levels and key performance targets associated with warehouse functions in order to service the
North America Bioindustry and MBI businesses. Provides critical input to Supply Chain leadership on resource, equipment, and budgets to meet future demands
for North America business. Accountable for hiring, training, coaching, developing, and performance management. Supports the harmonization of global/regional warehouse and supply chain functions while managing site and team's unique operation. Critical member of North America Supply Chain team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall warehouse and materials management functions for designated site and business.
  • Drive culture of safety and compliance through near miss reporting, safety/quality audits, operational metrics, and employee training.
  • Hire, coach, develop, performance manage, and promote staff within assigned warehouse function.
  • Provide goals, direction, and prioritization to supervisors and materials management associates.
  • Handle issue escalation from team and cross-functional relationship with supporting departments.
  • Lead new warehouse process/projects driven from compliance and business needs via testing, change control, and Request for Change (RFCs).
  • Ensure project / department milestone goals are met while adherence to scheduling, budget and compliance requirements.
  • Accountable for driving operational efficiencies through continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place and being followed in order to maintain a GMP environment.
  • Monitor the operations and provide troubleshooting to resolve roadblocks while implementing contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
  • Lead investigation, identification of corrective actions and implementation of corrective actions for operational deviations.
  • Provide specialized oversight for all automation used in warehouse operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. APICS certification strongly preferred. 3-5 years at a manager level in a Pharma/Biotech GMP environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant ERP system knowledge (SAP preferred).
  • Ability to manage a team.
  • Robust demonstration of skills relevant to inventory control, materials requirements planning, warehousing, transportation, and purchasing, and business process development.

Work Environment:

This job is performed in a temperature-controlled facility without exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Generally, this job is performed in a cleanroom setting and routinely uses standard medical and research equipment such as centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, microscopes, incubators, chromatography devices and columns, tangential-flow filtration devices and filters, peristaltic pumps and metering fill pumps, pipettes and computers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to blood, viruses, bacteria, body fluids and other tissues. Employees entering and leaving the laboratory must wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment such as lab coats, glasses and gloves. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
