Description

This position is responsible for coordinating the department, including supervising sheet metal staff, increasing quality control, ensuring safety standards are met and assisting management as necessary. It also involves organizing and monitoring work flow, maintaining production machines at maximum working capacity. Additionally the Supervisor position is accountable for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is planned and executed in a timely manner and within company quality standard.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises sheet metal personnel by ensuring team compliance with safety and production functional procedures, by backing-up the team leader when necessary.
  • Develop jigs and fixtures, develop work instructions.
  • Ensures that tools, equipment and work space is clean and orderly.
  • Assist in troubleshooting tools and equipment to meet sheet metal production schedule.
  • Ensures that all equipment, materials and supplies are readily and continuously available to carry out sheet metal section production processes.
  • Document control of all work instructions and procedures.
  • Manage performance review, appraisals, and promotions for employees.
  • Address employee concerns and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Delegates workflow to team members, maintains work schedule.
  • Acts as liaison between team leader and department manager.
  • Keeps manager informed of any problems, concerns and inventory issues as necessary.
  • Requests parts/tools when necessary.
  • Reports problems, repairs needed and repairs performed to manager. Performs repairs as needed. Follows instructions regarding routine maintenance and/or treatment for tools, equipment and work space.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Keep management informed by reporting problems immediately either verbally or in writing
  • Performs general administrative duties by writing and distributing reports; by typing and entering data; filing and storing information effectively; participating in meetings; and undertaking other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Complies with established procedures by learning and following all policies and procedures of the department in order to work efficiently and meet the expectations of the company.
  • Contributes to the team effort by being flexible in work assignments by covering for the staff as needed; accomplishing related tasks when reasonably requested.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attaining job-related certification and or training; keeping up on industry trends and applying that knowledge on the job. Acts on constructive feedback, being open to feedback from peers, supervisors and clients.
  • Improves processes by examining departmental workflow processes, research procedures, administrative procedures etc., and by recommending changes where appropriate.
  • Upholds work standards by maintaining professional conduct and appearance, by realizing one's own limitations and to seek assistance when needed; by using established communications channels.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others.
  • Communicate and enforce corporate environmental, health, and safety program.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

  • Production Assistant Manager

SUBORDINATE STAFF:

  • Leadman
  • Sheet Metal department personnel

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must possess excellent planning and organizing skills. Must have the ability decisively act in important situations, easily grasp concepts and solve problems in production throughput. Experience should include great attention to detail, negotiation skills, good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, strong leadership skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Need to be able to work well under pressure during tight deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable in pneumatics, hydraulics and electronics.

SKILLS:

  • Must also have advanced knowledge in using programs as Microsoft Office and other production-related software.
  • Must be able to use CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, Sheet Metal CAD/CAM software)
  • Experience in Laser/Punch press CNC cutting machines and Press Brake machines.

TRAVEL:

  • Possible out of state travel.
  • Possible out of country travel.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Temp-to-Hire; Full Time; M-F 8:00am-5:00pm
